WEEK 1
ENVIRONMENTAL FX
Bullet Rigid Bodies
In this module we will learn to create dynamic effects-based animation for visual effects. The class will be taught how to produce and control particle systems, rigid bodies, cloth, fluids that move under the computer simulated forces of physics.
Instead of animating manually by setting keyframes by hand, we will learn to set simulation behaviors and adjust forces such as gravity or weather effects.
During session one we were introduced to different techniques for creating rigid body simulation in Maya. We got to play around with The Bullet physics engine, and created our own domino simulation using the plug-in.

The two types of rigid bodies that were mainly used; active and passive.
-
An active rigid body is dynamically simulated and is affected by collisions, forces and constraints.
-
A passive rigid body can collide with active bodies, and they remain static.
