P.I.P INDUSTRY

In this module we will learn to use creative digital marketing techniques to promote ourselves as Visual Effects artists. We will explore tools for promoting identities and enabling networking opportunities across multiple platforms and domains.
During our first P.I.P Industry session we got acquainted with LinkedIn, how it works and it's many functions. Our first task was to create, or in my case; update our LinkedIn profile, and improve the site with updated information and skills. We will integrate our LinkedIn profiles with the next part of our project, which is to find a job within the field, apply for it, and create a mock interview cover letter.

My previous experience working in customer service. During my time working in customer service, I learned how to keep calm under pressure, patience and how to multitask as well as communicate. It is my strong belief that I would be a valuable asset to your organization, with my wide set of skills. Possible questions to ask:

I contacted six industry professionals over LinkedIn. Everyone of them were either digital matte painter, matte painter supervisor combined with some other position, or lead digital matte painter for their company,

The questions above are the ones I asked the three industry professionals. I did not include every question in the Power Point presentation due to some long answers. The questions I included are the ones with interesting replies or the ones I thought would be most important or/and the ones that enlightened me on the subject.

Further below, you will see screenshots of the chats between me and the industry professionals.

Adrien replied to my message on LinkedIn the same evening I sent my introduction. He was more than happy, encouraging and excited to reply to my questions. He was also the one with the longest, thorough and well thought-out replies. We were pretty formal in the beginning, but the more I got to know him I felt like we developed a connection. At the end we were joking and he could write freely.

I had the longest chat with Pau. He replied merely hours after I contacted him, and gave me his answers already the morning after. He answered short and thoroughly, and afterward he sent me the link to his showreel which was password protected, and gave me tips to how to make a strong and good showreel.

Joakim is a fellow Norwegian and was excited to hear I was interested in the field. We chatted a bit in Norwegian but he was more than happy to answer the questions in English. He was quite busy with a deadline the following week I contacted him, so it took a couple of days before he sent me the answers, but he was nice and supportive of my future.

I was able to connect with the professionals after our chat, and was lucky enough that they approved my request :)
